Bioinformatics web infrastructure development and support.
We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative person with a strong background in Internet technologies and software engineering. We are working at the exciting interface of genomics and informatics, developing and providing worldwide leading resources.
The candidate must demonstrate clear evidence of successful work over at least a few years of working experience in a multidisciplinary environment. The job requires practical Python and Dojo/JQuery programming skills, experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, fluency in Unix environment and in English. Knowledge of evolutionary or molecular biology, Web GUI design, Apache toolkit, and Unix administration are pluses.
The Computational Evolutionary Genomics group, headed by Prof. E. Zdobnov, is part of the Department of Genetic Medicine and Development of the University of Geneva Medical School. We are also part of the renowned Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB, http://www.isb-sib.ch/), and offer a stimulating environment with excellent facilities.
The international city of Geneva, described as ‘the smallest of the large capitals’, offers a vibrant city life within easy reach of the picturesque lake and stunning Alps.
